Today, Somie continues to make Jute reinforced membranes Asphaltoide and gypsum false ceiling tiles (ECHO STOP). The activities have recently expanded to include modified bitumen torch membranes when Somie was approached by a group of investors and asked to lead the group in establishing a manufacturing facility to make torch applied waterproofing membrane. This kind of membrane is used to waterproof building structures. It is effective, economical, and environmentally friendly. Torch applied bitumen membrane is being manufactured locally Somie acts as a distributor and applicator of the product.

From Manufacturing to Trading

Over the years of its life, the philosophy of the company was to always be in tune with the most recent developments within its area of work. This has meant that the company began to operate, as a trading company in order to be able to cover the entire range of products demanded by its customers.

To this end, the company has made agreements to represent the following companies in local market:

Modern Waterproofing: Waterproofing membranes and coatings (BITUMODE)

Delta Foam: Foam insulating boards (EPS)

 Thoro: Cement based coatings for waterproofing of water tanks & mortar additives.

Advichems: Extruded polystyrene foam boards for heat insulation.

Somie also supplies bitumen to the domestic contractor market. The two types of bitumen supplied are 60/70 grade (normal bitumen) and 115/15 grade (blown bitumen).

Somie is constantly searching for opportunities to add products that would be of interest to its diverse base of clients. This means that the company is constantly gathering market intelligence through exhibiting and attending local and international trade fairs and, of course, through listening to its clients.
